A Linear Sequence of Scares [Closed | Dungeon]

[Katsurayama Haruyuki]

Haruyuki drew his katana sheathed on his side, and then sheaths it again in its scabbard, somewhat pleased that it didn't rust yet. He had arrived at the front of this castle without much hardship, but seeing the many corpses strewn around the castle made him alert of what should he expect inside. He checked his equipment, and it seemed that nothing was lacking. When he came here he was in his clothes as a spy, fully expecting the worst. There would be no mercy shown here in this castle full of scares. But as an iaido master, Haruyuki kept his swords sheathed, but he was always ready to draw them once danger shows itself. He stared at the castle for some time, waiting for his inner fear to disperse before going in.

[Brandt Solveig]

Pale green hues settled their sights upon a castle with a dark aura blanketing its surroundings. Something in his blood told him to be weary of such a place. But this giant knew very little about what most called fear. He had seen a lot thus far jn his lifetime. He wasn't about to be scared off by folklore and legend.


It was then that they would fixate upon a figure nearby. A woman out here, all alone? It was confusing to Brandt to see such a thing. But there was a lot he had seen in this region which he wasn't accustomed to.


Pulling himself from the foliage, the male would move toward the 'woman'. His right arm lifted, with his hand grasping close to the hilt of his massive sword. Though his cloak covered most of his body, the shape of the blade could be seen as the material of his cloak brushed against it.


"What is this place?"


His voice was deep, rough. It was pretty clear that vocal damage had happened to him at one point in his life. And it wouldn't help that his accent was horrible and his japanese was extremely basic. Brandt's eyes would stare toward the female, his face hidden by the hood of his cloak.

[Gabriella Santos]

Gabriella rode towards the castle that was her destination. Maki was not going to like it if he found that she was here. She was surprised to see two other people already by the entrance. "What is this place?" The man among the two asked aloud to the women. Gabriella dismounted her horse and approached hand casually by her pistol in case these two were hostile. 

"It is know as Numa castle a place of death and despair. From what I've heard and seen dark powers reside here." She told the large man. She was to see what had to be face to gain power. She couldn't always rely on Maki's protection, however for now these two may just do the trick. "There probably a small fortune inside too, a castle like this is bound to have something left behind beyond dirt and dust." It was a assumption but a reasonable good one, while a abandoned castle would have most things taken it's state hinted at people not necessarily having a chance to have done so.

When Haruyuki was about to go inside, he heard a man asking what was this place. He turned around towrds the man, and was about to say something when a woman interrupted him, and told the man about this castle and what should he expect in this place. He just shrugged as he could not add further to the information given by the woman.

"As said, it was an old castle which might be infested with too many nasty creatures," he said, while looking at the corpses strewn around the castle. If they would not be serious in this, they would be degenerated into those corpses, their lives long expired. "There were rumors that a lot of treasure was still there waiting for people to pick up, but many had tried and failed in this aspect. Maybe those people were adventurers aspiring for the treasure, but owing to their lack of skill has perished." He then glanced towards the entrance of the castle. "If you had no fear of these things, we would try to see if there's really treasure here." He walked towards the entrance of the castle, not waiting for the others until he had entered.

It seemed.that this castle called warriors in to its location, for as he had approached the first 'woman' and asked his question, another female appeared and answered it first. It seemed as if they were here to find some kind of fortune. Brandt wasn't necessarily here for treasure, though he probably wouldn't turn it down either.

The Nord was just curious to see what really went on in this place. Brandt feared nothing that lived, nor died. So he too would begin to walk toward the castle entrance following the one who had took the lead. The giant remained quiet as he did, scanning his surroundings as he moved with his right arm bent up and his hand grasping the hilt of his blade.

Let us see what secrets are kept within..

[Gabriella Santos]

Gabriella listened as the other women here reiterated her point, the large man moving to follow. Taking the chance She scanned the man, he, like herself was not from around here. She didn't know where he was from, but his size and complexion was uncommon to the peoples of these lands. As was the weapon he had on his person. "Lead the way." She said to the other women.

Following as well, She carefully drew her gun holding it buy her side ready for whatever happened. She planned to make good use of the large man as some form of mobile cover. He would given her the protection she needed here if thing went down hill, or at least she hoped the man would. She couldn't let Maki feel weak by getting hurt. He would beat himself up for not being there to protect her, Gabriella was sure. 

[Katsurayama Haruyuki]

As his boots thumped on the rotten wood of the castle, Haruyuki surveyed the ambiance of the castle. It had seemed as if a lot of dark energy was roaming around in this place, threatening those who enter it. But it did not matter much for Haruyuki. He was well-prepared for any disaster that might ensue, and he was not afraid now of anything here, not even lurking evil spirits. He then moved towards the middle door, staring at it. It had seemed a lot of surprises would wait here behind this door, but Haruyuki was ready to face it.

"I think we should start at the middle door. In most castles this should lead to the audience hall, where lots of treasures are displayed for the benefit of visitors. Be careful though, there might be spirits of courtiers who might not want us to scavenge for the treasure." With those words, Haruyuki pushed the door with his left hand; his right hand ready to grasp the handle of the katana sheathed on his right waist.

[Uesugi Kenshin]

As Haruyuki touched the middle door, all three members of the group would be pulled inside and thrown out on the other side! They would immediately be met with the stench of death and decay! The moment they touched the ground, undead soldiers would rise up, charging them with their weapons drawn!

If they looked behind them, there was only a black void where the entrance was! They were trapped!

[OoC: Middle Chamber Initiated. Survive the gauntlet, take the chest, and run. Do not lose a single member of your team. Defeat as many enemies as you can. You will be graded on your kill count.

A vortex sucked Haruyuki and the others towards oblivion when he pushed the door, and spewed them into a room with many corpses inside. The stench of the corpses made Haruyuki cringe a little as he went forward.  But as he walked cautiously towards the other end of the room, he saw some of the corpses reanimate and charge at them.

"As expected," Haruyuki said, charging towards the soldiers. When he was on the striking distance of the undead soldiers, he would draw the swords from their scabbards and strike them with one swing, hoping to decapitate them. But if this failed, he would just spin himself and swing his swords into a tornado at the middle of the group of zombie soldiers, to sever the parts of the zombie soldiers away from each other.

Brandt had been taken by surprise when he felt his body sucked through the doorway and tossed into a deathly trap. The odor he smelt was familiar to him, it wasn't exactly his favorite smell in the world, but he wouldn't allow it to bother him. Instead he would focus on the undead creatures that rose up to face the companionship of his.

"Let the dead stay DEAD!"

Brandt roared out as he too plunged forward, his blood pumping with excitement as the battle with the dead began. That massive sword would be thrust forward as he approached the crowd at his ally's left side.

His goal was to impale as many as he could with his sword, before tugging off to his left to try and send whatever got impaled, smack dab into the walls of the room they were in.

Gabriella listened as the other women headed toward the middle door inside the castle, explaining her motivation for why it seemed like the best idea. While it seemed slightly contrived to her, what did Gabriella know about Japanese castles. However instead of opening the door normally, they were all suddenly sucked inside. Rushing she got back to her feet, annoying to have to do with one arm but still pretty easy. On her feet she noticed they were suddenly being charged. 

Spinning her pistol out she aimed at the head of one of the undead, and fired. Impressively spinning her gun, holding it under her arm and start reloading for another shot. Back up she would notice the wall of darkness closing off there retreat. As the others fought in melee she would try and pick off any that got through, or were attacking the others.

Haruyuki would succeed in decapitating two zombies, and slaying two more with his tornado slash! However, his victory wouldn't last long, as he'd find himself kicked in the back and sent to the ground! Some of the undead rushed upon him in an attempt to stab the boy on the ground!

Brandt manage to impale a lofty 4 soldiers onto his sword, swinging and slamming them into the wall nearby and killing every single one of them! However, he would get tackled to the floor by two of the undead! A third one was coming up, trying to stab him in the chest!

Gabriella would successfully pick off one of the soldiers, but before she could get another shot off, her gun would be slapped out of her hand and she'd be backhanded to the floor! The soldier that did it began to advance upon her, intent to kill!

[Katsurayama Haruyuki]

It had seemed that Haruyuki was successful in his swordsmanship against these undead soldiers. But he found himself kicked to the ground by another soldier, and others charged at him, hoping to impale him to the ground. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the woman also knocked to the ground, disarmed, while another soldier moved towards her.

She's a gunner, why did he let her hold her own.

With a forced exhalation, he would swing his swords outwards, hoping to decapitate the undead soldiers(s) in range. If he did that, he would stand up and charge towards the other soldiers, breaking a way through them with his swords, slicing them clean on their necks. But killed or not, he would move towards the gunner, possibly slicing down the soldier that got her, and would protect her at all times while she makes the shots.

Brandt successfully impaled four and finished them off, only to have two more rush him and bring him down to the ground. The giant wouldn't fight the fall. Instead he would simply try to use their momentum against them. Brandt would tuck his head and drop his upper half low, kicking with his feet as he did so.

He would attempt to land on his shoulders and force the three of them into a roll. If all went well then the giant just a few pounds shy of three hundred pounds would be resting with a knee on each creatures torso. His sword automatically lifting to point in front of him with hopes that the stupid rotting corpse would impale itself as it came for him.

[Gabriella Santos]

Knocked to the ground and her gun smacked aside, Gabriella wasn't liking the situation. She needed to get her weapon back and fast. Rolling on her side she would dodge the undead creatures weapon, however still grunting in pain as she put her weight painfully on top of her bad arm. Continuing to roll, her good arm stuck out and grabbed fro her weapon, bringing it round and firing at the head of the one the had gotten too close for comfort. 

Getting back to her feet as quickly as she could, she would fire the same undead if the first shot had not managed to take it down, before turning her gun back on the rest of them. In order to give some sort of protective fire to the two people fighting in melee, even though they didn't seem to be needing it.

Haruyuki would be able to slay the two undead around him, as well as killing the one that hindered Gabriella! Brandt's maneuver would save him from the two that were holding him, but not the third who tried to stab him! Luckily for him, Gabriella's shot would ring out and save his life!

Across the room, a veil of light would shine upon a pedestal, revealing an ornate chest. The Daimyo's chest!

[Katsurayama Haruyuki]

Haruyuki was relieved when all of the soldiers were finished. He then saw a shimmering light emanating from a part of the room. When he turned at the direction of the light, he saw a treasure chest atop a pedestl, beckoning those who saw it to get it.

"Stay close," Haruyuki said to the other two people, and moved forward towards the chest. If the two would follow, he would move towards the chest, check to see if there are traps in the pedestal, and if there are none or if he was able to disarm the trap, he would pick up the chest and move back towards the blockaded entrance.

Brandt would give a nod of approval toward the one holding firesticks. As much as Brandt didnt care for those kind of weapons, he would atleast acknowlefged that she had helped to save him some blood loss with it. However it wasnt time to be thinking about that kind of thing at the moment. They were in the middle of a haunted castle. Brandt wasnt about to let his guard down now.

Standing once again, the Nord would begin to follow the still unnamed 'female' he had first set eyes upon. Brandt would pull his weapon to the ready as he followed Haruyuki toward the treasure chest on the pedastal. Ever cautious, he would contj ue to cast glances about the room they were in. It seemed qnything could happen in this place.

"Tread lightly, friend.."

[Gabriella Santos]

Gabriella quickly moved to follow the other women, when the last of the undead creatures was down. She would reload her weapon, expecting more to turn up at any second, or for the ones already taken to the floor to raise again. They had been dead to start, and how exactly do you manage to kill something that is already dead. Half on guard and half watching the other women check around the chest for something, probably traps Gabriella assumed, she waited until the women felt safe trying to take it.

That was alot less resistance then, she had been expected. It was like the chest had purposely waited until that had felled the soldiers. 15 soldier, she quickly counted off. Held back by the decaying state of their bodies, and seemly dull skill in death. That didn't seem like much of a challenge, maybe what the chest held wasn't as valuable as hoped.

They would successfully grab the chest! But the moment Haruyuki's hands touched that chest, the group would hear the sounds of shrieks fill the air!

10 demonic creatures would appear, crawling along the walls!

5 dark orbs appeared in front of the group, and suddenly, Crawlers appeared out of them! They quickly kicked Brandt and Haruyuki to the floor! A crawler pinned Haruyuki down, about to stab him in the throat!

[Katsurayama Haruyuki]

Haruyuki was not surprised that when he held the chest, something evil would come out. His suspicions were confirmed when a number of black orbs appeared all around them. Some undead creatures appeared on the walls, and some spawned out of the orbs. One got him pinned down on the ground as it poised its jaws on him, about to bite his head off.

Seeing this had happened, Haruyuki would try to use his two swords to scissor out the crawler's head. If that's not effective, he would have to slice the creature with his swords until it was returned to its former dead state.

[Brandt Solveig]

The creatures came suddenly, but it should have been expected. The previous wave had seemed far to simple a feat for it to be over so soon. The Crawler caught Brandt by surprise, kicking him in the midsection to knock him on the ground. The giant would regain composure quickly though, shooting back up onto his feet with his sword at the ready. Out of his peripherals he could see one of his 'female' companions pinned and in trouble.

That giant sword would be swung from left to right at the Crawler that had kicked him previously. His hopes were though thatthe sword would kill or damage the first, and continue on to hit the ones attacking Haruyuki. With luck he could at least save 'her' and give them some space.
